2024 August Update

Aside from Gen Con, this month has been (sadly) a relatively quiet game design month for me. I’ve been occupied with other life-things, but I wanted to make sure to write an update to keep the streak going.

Gen Con

Gen Con was a great experience. I spent my time split between boothing for M.L Wang and meeting old friends and new acquaintances! As I become more and more involved with the TTRPG space, it’s always a treat to run into familiar faces and catch up. I left the convention physically and emotionally drained from an extremely social weekend but also mentally energized to design games (the ideas are spinning in my head). I am in awe of folks who attend conventions as part of their work the entire time–I’m exhausted just thinking about it!

Fetch My Blade

In addition to being sold at IPR’s Gen Con booth, Fetch My Blade received a mention in a Rascal News article: Solo Games I got at Gen Con… It’s a surreal experience to see people I’ve never met recognize or shout-out the game.

Wet Ink Wednesday

As part of the Jiangshi Backerkit campaign, I was interviewed by Matthew Orr of Wet Ink Games for his show, Wet Ink Wednesdays. During the interview, we talked about my path into TTRPG design, Fetch My Blade, making games with table presence, my scenario for Jiangshi: New Hauntings and experiences at Gen Con and conventions as a whole. Sadly, the Backerkit campaign has been canceled, but I’m looking forward to its return!

Gamehole Con Playtests

The event schedule for Gamehole Con has been released! I’m running playtests of my games, Chain×Link, Drawn from the Wellspring, and PREQUEL. I’m quite nervous about playtesting my games with strangers (it will require a lot of expectation setting), but this will be the best way to push my games forward. These games have been in my head for almost a full year now, and I’m ready for them to be done (or at least, text complete) so I can move on to the next projects on my list 😛

If you want to spend a few hours playing some in-development games and politely provide some feedback, please add these events (hyperlinked above) to your wishlist and sign up when the time comes!
